It's time to talk about Instagram feeds and how it could change again in 2022. In recent years we have all grown used to Instagram deciding what shows up in our timeline of posts. The posts you see every day on your timeline are selected by the Instagram Algorithm, and based on posts and accounts you interact with. This method is very personalized to what you interact with on Instagram but also creates a "content bubble" for your profile that is hard to break out of. An algorithm feed can cause you to miss posts that you may want to see, and cause some accounts to lose engagement from their followers.

Chronological Feed
Instagram users of days past may remember the golden days of the chronological feed. This method showed posts in order of the time they were posted and allowed users to see all posts from accounts they followed. This method seems foreign now that we have the algorithm deciding the content we digest but it allows users to get access to all the accounts they followed as they posted on their timeline. Now we wonder which version is better? Is it a matter of free choice versus having your feed decided for you? Or is it more personalized to let the algorithm customize your feed based on the data Instagram has collected for your profile?

Which Feed Do You Prefer?
This battle will be decided with subjective opinions. We prefer the chronological method of feed. It allows more content to receive engagement from followers and allows users to see more content as it's posted to Instagram. Some users may prefer the customized approach of the algorithmic feed, although this option gives you no control over the content that shows up on your feed. As 2022 is moving along there have been rumors that Instagram will re-introduce the chronological feed as an option for users. What feed would you choose for your Instagram usage?
